Summary: "Completely Useless in 2010"
This strategy guide is completely useless in 2010.
I'm not sure what they were thinking by forcing their customers to go to a website in order to learn about Final Fantasy IX - but they website you are directed to doesn't even work anymore! This book is really completely worthless, and it's a major bummer because the game itself is excellent.

Summary: "The worst guide ever written. Period."
Final Fantasy IX is one of the best RPGs I've ever played, and in my opinion is the best one to come out on the Playstation. The fact is that the guide I bought with it literally RUINED the game for me. It is not until recently, while replaying the game for the first time since I bought it in 1999, that I experienced the game without the poorly written and utterly useless Brady Games guide.
Back when the game first came out, my parents didn't have a reliable internet connection. So when I opened a guide that- literally- every page tells me to go online to find out how to do (A) or to defeat boss (B) or find treasure (c), it at that moment becomes a paperweight. While I played through the game and beat it, I was decidedly unsatisfied. I thought that I just didn't like the game all that much. After playing through it 11 years later with a REAL guide I was consulting, I realized I didn't like the game because I only played about half of it thanks to THIS guide.
This guide was obviously a ploy by Square to get people to check out their PlayOnline website. The fact that they decided to put a guide out there on the internet is admirable. HOWEVER, the fact that you must FIRST buy the $15 dollar paper guide to access the internet guide is reprehensible.

Summary: "A strategy guide, with an internet conection?"
This Strategy Guide is a tribute to all of the great strategy guides of the 90's, back before Game Stop had you spending ridiculous cash on strategy guides that are twice the size, but still only have the same amount of information. The one downside to this book is that it was dependent on the owner having an internet connection because for some reason Brady Games thought it would be smart to have about a fourth of the Info in this book only accesible from a website. If that was'nt bad enough the website no longer exists, the bright side though is that as long as you go online you can do what I'm doing right now and that is filling in all the blanks of the strategy guide with Info. from the internet which is a surprisingly easy task. Even if you don't have a means of an online connection it's still a great book that does it's job for a great game.

Summary: "Useless now - You cannot access the website"
This is useless now as it tells you to go to the website for info on everything, but the website is down. I wanted to play this again (still am) but you cannot use this guide anymore. =(

Summary: "WHAT!?"
Ok when I buy a guide I expect it to give me all the info I need not tell me to go online to find it. Then for no other reason then that I played the game later then other people, if I go to the site I dont get any info, I just get stuff for final fantasy xi, not ix. This guide is very incompleate, and beacuse of that can't help anyone if you use the guide for every step you take then you will become very frustated, if you only want if for help with mini games and finding special items well then dont even pick it up because thats the stuff thats missing. Anyone wanting to play this game would be much better served by an online guide which is what I ended up useing to find what I didnt find in the official guide
